Torn

I’m tired. I want to go to bed.
My wife is in pain. I want to come to her aid.
My clients need their projects complete. I want to work through the night.
I’m constantly conflicted. Such is life.

  1. I assume you have to take on a certain number of clients to equal out (more or less) to the bills you have to pay. And hopefully to have something a little extra for a rainy day.

Is the amount you make from these clients enough where you can cut a couple of them loose, and make up in efficiency what you lose in volume?

If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest doing what you were musing about the other day – find a company who will hire you full time. Assuming you can make at least as much as you are making freelance.

I know you have arguments about spending time with your kids, I have the same arguments. But there comes a time when it’s more important to suck up the pride, put food on the table and save yourself from an early heart attack.

The kids know you care, Cathy knows you care. Spend the time with them in the evenings when you get home and the mornings before you leave. Maybe do some freelance on the side, but no too much.

That’s my advice. I worry about you guys…
