I Support the $700bn Bailout! September 26, 2008 12:32 pm

Dear Gov’ment, Barack, and John,
I think you are all doing a fine job! Please let the $700,000,000,000 bank bailout pass. You have my full support with one small request. Please ear mark a measly $250k, just a drop in the bucket, for me. My own $250k bank bailout will afford me to clear debts and invest in certain assets to be a far more productive citizen with a greater contribution to the GNP.
Thank you! And keep up the great work!

This reminds me of my dad’s story about how he argued with some cold-caller from the Hillary Clinton campaign. She said that Hillary would bring in more jobs, and dad said that he would support her if the campaign would hire him as a data analyst. (He’s been doing temp work here and there since the plant he was working at closed down.) The caller couldn’t do anything but run in circles, promising that if their candidate was elected, the economy would magically get better… but obviously, they couldn’t do anything for him personally.

And this is why idealistic young’uns should never volunteer for a political campaign: one day, you will have to talk to a bitter old man, and it will not be fun.

Shoot. I’d be happy if they actually gave me my economic stimulus check.
