I'm skeptical of conspiracy theories too but I love to read them and I love to create them too. Finding that fine line between absurdity and plausible believability is like writing poetry.

We still have it FAR better than nearly the rest of the world in privacy and liberty.

Doug – I’m always highly skeptical about what I consider to be crack-pot conspiracy theories. So, I’ll file that bit under “yeah, right” for now. Doubt anyone will ever be able to *really* prove it one way or the other.

As for the freedom thing, bang on. The second ammendment wasn’t added just to help the country defend itself against outside attacks, it was meant to assure that the people would have a recourse against the gov’t (which is made up of people, of course). The fact is that the sentence I just wrote could get me flagged and monitored as a subversive. That is just plain scary.

Until the Binghampton, NY shooting story, I didn’t know that trying to protect yourself with body armor was illegal! For pity’s sake, the people aren’t even allowed purely defensive methods or products?! Guess we’re all just supposed to trust the gov’t and police to protect us. And we see how that worked out (and does all too often).

*sigh* As bad as it is, we still have it FAR better than nearly the rest of the world in privacy and liberty.
