Encouraging healthy snacking

This is my latest attempt to encourage the children to snack well. Everyday they arrive home from school, the neighborhood kids come over, and the whole gang immediately starts raiding the pantries and fridge scouring like starving mice for sweets. My hopes are that having this tray readily available on the kitchen table will make nibbling easier and discouraging staring into the cabinets. It has already been met with skepticism.

  1. My brother-in-law lets the kids have anything they want in between meals as long as it’s a fruit off the table. Seems genius to me.

  2. The best I ever felt was when I was in Jamaica and had small meals with snacking on fruit all day long. Of course, that also could have had something to do with being in Jamaica…

  3. Broccoli? Seriously? Everything else looks pretty good. But Broccoli? Seriously? Replace that with melon balls or apple slices and you’ve got a winner.

  4. Eh, yeah. I have to admit, the broccoli was for me. It gets worse; I have a cauliflower in the refrigerator right now.In the Future trays will include melons, apples, and cheeses.
