Age of Innocence

They say children see 9 dolphins in this picture. What do you see?

Incase anyone missed the reference, I’ll post it below. Click more to see the details.

The reference to 9 dolphins is to this picture:

9 dolphins

I saw this back in March and forget the source. It was similar to this website? The original text that accompanies the picture is:

You saw a couple in an intimate pose, right?

Interestingly, research has shown that young children cannot identify the intimate couple because they do not have prior memory associated with such a scenario.

What they WILL see, however, is the nine dolphins in the picture!

So, I guess we’ve already proven you’re not a young innocent child… now… If it’s hard for you to find the dolphins within 6 seconds, your mind is indeed corrupted and you may need help . [Source]

I can find nothing to substantiate or refute this. I am not terribly inclined to ask the children what they see.

  1. Eight and a half … and I hate to ponder what that means about me

  2. Just soyou know Gabriel saw aomeone doing a twirl on the bottle. He did not see the dolphins even when I pointed it out to him. And I didn’t feel like the picture is any worse than some you would see in a museum.

  3. Great reply Gabriel!

I don’t find the picture offensive. I wish the person that scanned it or photo’d it had grabbed more so that we could better observe the illusion with the frame sticking through the water creating the ripples.

I’ll try to remember to ask the children what they see starting with the youngest.

  4. […] We recently had the pleasure of visiting the middle school’s art show. Sarah had 2 pieces of art and a poem entered. So, we have all seen the picture on the bottle. I did not expect to see it in real life. […]

  5. […] remember the phallus on the cover of the Little Mermaid? Like the dolphins, our eyes are trained to see beyond the innocent pictures. I bet we see more raunch in Disney […]
