If middle-class income had merely kept pace with economic growth, your $32,000 job would instead be paying you $52,000. But it’s not. And the reason is that virtually all of the economic growth of the past three decades has been funneled into the pockets of the well-off, the rich, and the super-rich. [Source]
ah yes, the Reagan legacy. Trickle Down economics. GOP has figured out it works (for the rich). Democrats haven’t figured out how to get most middle class (and lower class) Americans to understand this fact yet.
personally i find this great!
the fact that most australians (and i assume americans are the same) have jobs keeps them in the highest taxed bracket. where those of us who are smart enough to figure out how to run a business and avoid tax get to keep the money that the middle class get to pay in tax – keeps us up there at the top end of the income earners, and having been in all brackets in my life so far i would definitely have to favour the top one!
