  • I was never a very good _____

I was never a very good Presbyterian
    Nor a very good Baptist
I was never a very good Methodist
I attended a Catholic church once
And was not a very good Catholic
I was never a very good Lutheran
I tried reading the Book of Mormon
But was never a very good Mormon
    I attended some Wiccan ceremonies
But I was never a very good Wiccan
    I have chanted
But I was never a very good Buddhist

    I have seen fairies
Spoken to the Great Spirit, o’ Maker of Life
    Drawn down the moon
    Worshiped the Sun
    Praised the Mother
    Oh Blessed Be!
    I have been a trespasser
       And a debtor
    I have taken communion
       The Body and The Blood
But I was never a very good believer

But, in all these things, the Spirit in me
Has been the best that I can be.

    Earth Day Lunch

Update: This update for Jim, the no good deed goes unpunished commenter. The students discussed healthy eating for lunch today, not conservation. The landfill packaging may or may not have presented the students an opportunity for discussing organic eating.

    Recipe

The secret is to turn the 2 pieces of bread into a rectangle. My first attempt I put one slice directly on top of the other and that did nothing. You want to overlap them ever so slightly before using the rolling pin. Work the seam really well so that you end up with a good bond between the two slices.

When putting the ingredients on, cheat it toward one of the narrow sides to leave some bare bread at the end for keeping the roll together (bread on bread after rolling). Roll it tight but not so tight as to tear the bread and at the end go back and forth over the final seam with slightly increasing pressure to try to keep the bread together.

I picked up the sushi tray from Kroger’s deli.

The sushi is: white wheat bread, ranch dressing, 2 slices of ham, shredded carrots, 1 slice of swiss cheese, and 2 sweet baby pickles

  • Need a break

Been fighting a logic problem. Ready for this day to be done.

  • Communicating something?

Forgot I’m having lunch with s recruiter today. Didn’t shave. Wore beat up tennis shoes. Not my best outfit. Need a haircut. Bathed two weeks ago. I’m thinking there’s something subconscious going on here.

  • New rules for murder/suicide

Yesterday Knoxville suffered a shooting tragedy. My sympathies to the victims and the victim’s families.

While buying a paper this morning, yes I bought one…how quaint, several customers, the cashier and I discussed it and determined some rules of etiquette must be established for these murder/suicides. We feel it would be good manners if you would shoot yourself first and let your victims go second.

On a serious note, if you feel the need to murder/suicide, or even just to kill yourself, please seek help! You are loved and there are people who want to help who may just have not heard your cries yet. Find help at suicidehotlines.com

  • Great relaxation / High anxiety

I had an awesome weekend. The offshoot of this wonderful weekend is a hellish Monday. I neglected some client obligations and much needed paperwork. Now to make up for it!

  • Things I don’t understand

If I can hear her voice from where I’m sitting, then she can hear you urinating while talking to her. Why do people talk on cellphones in the restroom? And on speakerphone?!
