In my head
I’ve kept my old friends alive
Some are dead and gone
But in my head they live on
Others are alive and well
I laugh at the good times
That bonded us so well
Yet they never call
They’ve moved on
Friends and family
For whom I loved so dear
And craved close relations
Are nowhere near
I know communications
And relations
Are a two way street
I have not done my part
Life gets busy
Different paths pull us apart
We don’t mean to stray
Different priorities
Just make it that way
Each of us has a role to play
In other people’s lives
May be just for a moment
A passing in a line
A kindness
Remembered a long time
Maybe we were the brother
They never had
With trust shared deep
And questions unasked
Did you have a stronger influence
On me than I had on you
You made all the difference
Did I ever thank you
You are still present in my head
I’m not sure
What happened to you
Are you still alive or dead
We enter each other’s lives
When we are needed
We depart
When they need their freedom
