H Bomb will feature nude pictures of undergraduates

After flipping through the pages of Squirm, a Vassar College erotica magazine, the Committee on College Life (CCL) voted to approve a student-run magazine that will feature nude pictures of Harvard undergraduates and articles about sexual issues at its meeting yesterday. …

This great article Write Secure Scripts with PHP 4.2! by Kevin Yank has helped convert some of my ColdFusion knowledge into PHP knowledge. Now, let’s kill off this project!

    Nuclear groups question terrorist threat

“A top nuclear-safety official has said he wasn’t aware that any American nuclear power plant diagrams were found in Afghanistan, despite a terrorist threat cited by President Bush in his State of the Union address two years ago.

McGaffigan’s statement has led some groups to assert that Bush either misled the country or mishandled the intelligence about the threat…

If plans of US nuclear plants had been discovered, then the NRC should have been alerted to help prepare a security response…”

I just realized that my sloppy coding habits have had me stuck on a problem for a day! I forgot to issue the command that turns on debugging error messages and I had a capital letter in my query but the name of the table was all lowercase. Ugh!

  • Environmental Wakeup Call

I think Tim accidentally gave me credit for finding this link Poisonous Legacy. It is bitterly disturbing. A must watch for all who care for humanity; a difficult watch for anyone with a weak constitution.

For those concerned, please see other great links at Tim’s post here.

Done with calls. Called several Walgreens and tracked down the Wonka Fun Dip Valentines. Called Cingular and found that there was an outage over the weekend and our phone troubles were due to the phones needing to be reset. What a waste of time!

The little things that eat away my day have begun. I forgot my glasses so I’ll have to walk upstairs to get them and something will have to get done, I have to call Cingular and find out why the phones aren’t working (don’t I pay them $130 per month so that I don’t have to do this?), the basement is freezing so I need to chop wood, and I have to call around and find these Valentine’s for the 7 yr old.

Comcast offers $66 billion for Disney

  • Links I enjoyed yesterday

These webpages I stumbled onto one way or another yesterday and enjoyed the read.

Life After the Oil Crash I don’t think anyone should take this seriously or at face value without seriously doing some research “Civilization as we know it is coming to an end soon. This is not the wacky conclusion of a religious cult, but rather the result of diligent analysis sourced by hard data and the scientists who study global “Peak Oil” and related geo-political events. …”

Timothy McSweeney Presents: Lady Into Fox on the Implausibility of the Death Star’s Trash Compactor by Joshua Tyree “I maintain that the trash compactor onboard the Death Star in “Star Wars” is implausible, unworkable, and moreover, inefficient. …”

400 UPGRADE This was my favorite find yesterday. Remembering the memory upgrade I did on my first real computer, the Atari 400. The memory upgrade was from 16kb to 40kb and done with a soldiering iron! “…Atari in effect discouraged owners from increasing RAM with warnings about voiding the warranty, overheating, possible electric shock or damage to other delicate parts if the case were opened … ”

    A New Day!

Let’s start the day off with a PayPal donation link:

    This Morning

    * I just want to sleep but the 13 yr old won’t allow it. He has homework that did not get done and needs to be hovered over.

    * 6:08 got up and got the kids moving, put wood on the fire.

    * 6:20 went back to bed until 6:50 when I got up, checked on the kids, and brewed coffee

    * Took the 7 yr old, his friend, and the 10 yr old to school. The friend was ready to go when we pulled up (7:08)–a first!

    * 7:12 dropped the kids at school then went and fueled the car. Today’s gas prices: 14.667 gallons at $1.539 per gallon = $22.57 (that the cheap 87 octane)

    * Returned home and the 13 yr old was on his “2nd” bowl of cereal but for all I know it was his 4th. I reminded him he had homework then I laid down for 7 minutes until he started making noises to draw me back upstairs.

    Last Night

    * Had a beer and watched history channel until 12:50am

Deep Sea Detectives – B29 “In 1948, a B-29 Superfortress bomber took off from California on a research mission carrying a strange piece of scientific equipment–the Suntracker. But when the plane crashed into Lake Mead, Nevada, the Suntracker was lost. And all records saying what it was or what the plane was studying were also lost.

For decades, the bomber was a local legend around the Canyon, but its location was unknown…”
