Exercise!

I left the house. I ran. It felt good.

That was probably the first time I’ve seriously run in 4 years! I used to run 2 miles a day. Granted, that is not as much as the serious exercisers but it got my heartrate up for the 20 minutes that I needed it there. This run was very short but more than just down the street and back. It’s a good start.

Let the Shoe Do the Walking

Adidas creates ‘smart shoe’

This shoe adjusts the cushioning, making the adjustments when your foot is in the air, using a tiny motor, screw and cables to make the shoe wear better and increase the performance of the runner. Now all we have to do is replace the knee bone and the thigh bone and a few others pieces then we can sit on the couch and watch ourselves on television running around the neighborhood.

Dad mode

Took Noah to scouts and he passed from Wolf to Bear. I said I would most likely participate as a co-leader next year since the troop will continue to be very large. After that I dropped Noah off and ran to the store to get Sarah some more paint pens for her project and did some shopping for food and beverages.

Now trying to decide if I have the gumption to go run for 20 minutes. Let’s see if I can cause a heart attack by doing the thing that is suppose to prevent heart attacks.

My allergy cough is up and I’m concerned that I’ll cough through the performance on Saturday. My emails to the club were too little, too late so I’m on my own again.

Thanks to my laziness == lack of money — and our wonderful mayor’s 500% increase in automobile registration costs, my wife is pushing to get rid of some vehicles. I always envisioned us with a van, a sedan and a Jeep. She would like to see a van and something else.

Right now each vehicle we have has a problem. I have the skill and knowledge to fix them but I don’t have the time or the money for parts but that doesn’t mean I’m not prepared to deal with the issues and I have prioritized them in my head.

The way to resolve the problem is 1) for me to get us out of this neighborhood and 2) to get rid of all the current vehicles and replace them with a van and a sedan. They say the way to a happy life is a happy wife. She would be happier if I would just get rid of 1/3 of our junk. It would pain me at first but I’d get over it and be happier because she would be happier.

Just can’t get going

So the Jeep ran fine this morning. Now it doesn’t start. We know its not the battery and since it has a brand new starter and starter solenoid then the problem must reside in the cables or relay. Time to remove and replace those. Hopefully I can do that before 3pm.

Cellhell

Ran to the cellphone store but they sold all the v600s yesterday while my salesperson was out. Next shipment “Thursday” (does that mean today or in a week?). He’s guaranteed me that being over my 15 day warantee will not be a problem.

Anyone have feedback on the Motorola v400 versus the v600? I’ve also been told you can buy all the parts for the v400 and put it together yourself for $25–anyone have any good links?

Sharks teeth or high explosives?

Paving Delaware with Ammunition This is too cool! I remember as a child living near the coast that everyone’s driveways were made of crushed sea shells. It was fun because you can find really nice sharks teeth in the driveways. I never thought to look for hand granades!

Authorities believe the rusted explosives are being dredged up by clam harvesters from the sites where the Army dumped surplus ordnance after World War I and World War II.
