A New Day!
Let’s start the day off with a PayPal donation link:
This Morning
Alarm had me up at 4:15 and I was so close to staying up. Doused the alarm and work at 7:15. Now for morning ritual stuff.

My text vanished?!
Wife and I had quality time. Good conversation.
The 5 Love Languages as defined by Gary Chapman are:
1. Words of Affirmation
2. Quality Time
3. Receiving Gifts
4. Acts of Service
5. Physical Touch
My love language may very well be Acts of Service but I’m not sure yet; it could be Words of Affirmation. Cathy’s is definitely not Acts of Service. I suspect Cathy’s love language to be Quality Time.
To put a little cheese on the top my grandfather would add:
My friend’s name was ‘Red’ and in response I blurted out “Right on! Red!” so he turned right at the red light and from that day forth it’s been legal to make righthand turns at red lights.
btw, scored an interview. Didn’t think it prudent to make it for today so I made it for Thursday.
Mind racing. Thoughts on:
* dwindling money in checking account
* dying transportation
* ability to fix all problems but lack resources
* job submissions and how stinking long it will take for one to turn into anything
* $0 and lots of attempts at bigger $$ vs $7-9/hr and no time for submissions and interviewed vs $40-65/hr out of town
* yard work
* home repair
* doing things that make me feel good
DAMN this situation I’ve put myself into. I am a bane to everyone that comes in contact with me!
Check phlog.net for new pictures. Hopefully blogger.com will add photo bloggimg soon.
Audio blogging is way too fun!
My wife put on some patchouli on similar scent last night and it still lingers in the house wherever she had been. It’s a wonderful smell! Of course she put it on just before heading out for the evening … hmmmm
I typically am turned off by perfumes but she has nailed this one. It’s distinct too. I can’t smell it without having vivid images of this wonderful person. I have jars of my grandfather’s cologne (from 1965!) and it’s a similar pleasure. The smell is absolutely unique to him. I’ve pondered trying to ebay the unique jars of cologne (jars are in the shapes of cars) but I think they are much more valuable just being able to share moments with him periodically.
Cover letter written! Resume printed. Time to deliver (40 minute round trip drive).
I’ve piddled away an hour blogging, reading email and getting an RSS Aggregator working. Now that its time to get serious I expect that Amy will awaken and I’ll have to be upstairs until the rest of the family comes around.
Here’s what comes next. This trench needs to go down another 3 feet (1 m) and be dug across the full 44′ (13.4 m) length of the house. Living on a hillside the heavy rains had started to leak through the walls. The trench in its current state in conjunction with the waterproofing inside the house has stopped the problem; however, it would be a mistake to not fix it correctly. This is a hazard, an eye sore, and a lot of work!
Estimated project cost: $1000
Needs: Backhoe, 20 tons of rock (20,321 kg), 20 tons topsoil, tar for waterproofing the wall, pvc pipe pre-drilled, lots of burlap, hammer drill
My hopeful goals are to take advantage of the trench being open to run an additional sewer discharge along the front of the house as well as an extension of the incoming water so that an additional structure (be it a shed or a stand alone garage) can easily tie into having water–hmm, that may be to code though and would require a permit and inspection. Crud!
