Riya brings an interesting angle to photosharing and album management. Riya uses facial recognition to automatically name the people in your photos. Now when you take 500 pictures on a family vacation you can upload the photos and search for all photos containing a particular person. Very nice! Riya is currently in an unstable beta. Flickr should buy them.
This concept sounds interesting, but I find it hard to believe that this will work well on a large scale. Too many variables come into play, depending on lighting etc, plus any Photoshopping you do to the photo. Sounds more like an “proof of concept” company that is LOOKING to be bought out rather than be brought to market. But then again, I am cynical like that.
