There are lots of words that fit … mother, daughter, father, son, husband, wife, student, employee … but I do recall a snippet of a song, one that my parents listened to when I was a wee tot. I don’t remember the name or who sang it, but this one line has been banging around in my head for ages, and has helped keep me sane when the demands of the world threaten to make my head implode:
“Well it’s all right now. I’ve learned my lesson well. It seems, you can’t please everyone so you’ve got to please yourself.
Ya da da da … dootin do do … ya da da da da … got to … please yourself.”
Words to live by, my friend.
