After the Dogwood Parade There Was Music

We watched Sarah march in Knoxville’s Dogwood Parade last night. Afterwards we watched Brenden James Wright and The Wrongs (MySpace) play on Market Square.

I was introduced to The Wrongs when my brother-in-law turned Cathy onto Luther Wright and The Wrongs’ (MySpace) Rebuild the Wall, a bluegrass cover of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. It’s excellent!

A little sidenote to the architects of Market Square: As much as I miss the old pavalion, the new stage is very nice; however, your permanent poles with the stage lighting block the view of the stage from most seating unless you are positioned directly in the middle of the audience. Couldn’t they have been swung more to the side?

That itch that won’t go away

My computer has been performing poorly. So this morning I ran my virus scanner with its toughest settings for piece of mind. Instead I found a virus:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\Doug McCaughan\Application Data\Google\mupd1_2_12916358.exe Malware name:Win32-Trogan-gen {Other} Virus/Worm

Guess it is time to do a security sweep of the home network. I bet the kids computers are overrun.

Handwritten Note

This one is scribbled on a napkin shoved into my poetry journal and dated August 6, 2004 along with Of Time and Aging.

If at first you don’t succeed may your rotting corpse serve as a warning to the next guy. -DM 6aug2004

Another on the same napkin:

Yesterday was never as hard as it seemed at the time. -DM 6aug2004

And the final is an old favorite that is not an original of mine.

Today is the tomorrow we thought about yesterday. -author unknown

My One-dimensional Reality

This was written for a open mic night around 1992.

I wrote a poem the other day so in the spirit of the evening I would like to present it to you.
Ready?
It’s called "My One-dimensional Reality" and it goes like this:
Dot!
Well, it lacked a little point so I wrote another called "My Two-dimensional Reality" and tried to draw lines between the meanings. It was then that I started to get deep and philosophical and expanded the two poems into "My Three-dimensional Reality." It was here that my thoughts exploded in ALL directions.
I started to write "My Four-dimensional Reality" but I ran out of time.
And one day, I want to write about the larger dimensional realities but at the moment my concepts are beyond words.

How is Firefox reading my mind and will it cause cancer?!

In Firefox’s search box, I typed "Mysql error no. 1130" and almost as fast as I typed the individual letters, the drop down box was recommending potential searches. It does this incredibly accurately and quickly for bizarre terms that under normal circumstances would never be put together. How are they doing this?! Programmaticly I can conjecture at how they’ve pulled this off. It’s a very impressive feature! (particularly if it really is using mind reading)
