Decided just to pay the ticket despite my belief that in principle I was conned. Instead of wasting time drying downtown to pay it I will mail it. I write the check, fold it in half and “rip!” it tears. What is Murph trying to tell me here?! Is this a sign that I should appeal?

Ugh! Such a typical example of how everything turns into something more than it should be!

I made my invoice but my software won’t print without crashing. I’m also running out of time to waste half a %^$#( day driving downtown to pay or appeal a parking ticket. If I don’t do it today things get nasty.

Japanese invisibility cloak ‘augments reality’But now Japanese scientists have turned fantasy into reality by creating an invisibility cloak that makes it possible to see straight through its wearer. He, or she, simply vanishes from view.

So hard June 14, 2004 10:47 am

I really feel like I’m frequently cursed. Everything seems to take so much more effort for me. My cellphone is very non-responsive..like the software is low on memory. It has also quit making noises. I just did a test call and it doesn’t ring anymore. I double check all settings and the volume is set the loudest it can be.

So I pass on troubleshooting that and continue to make my phone call to compusa. The number has been changed or disconnected.

Does problem and problem after problem happen to other people? I thought our society is supposed to be advancing. Great! We live longer but we spent more of our lives wasting our time! I’d rather have a shorter life with less headaches!

Yesterday I declared it a day of no electronics and we got more work and play out of the boys than we have in ages. Today, Noah has already put in over an hour of play on his Gameboy and already he is walking around like a drooling zombie.

The Son of Patriot Act Also Rises

While activists and politicians work to repeal or change parts of the Patriot Act that they say violate constitutional rights, Patriot Act II legislation — which caused a stir when it came to light last year — is rearing its head again in a new bill making its way through Congress.

The bill would strengthen laws that let the FBI demand that businesses hand over confidential records about patrons by assigning stiff penalties (up to five years in prison) to anyone who discloses that the FBI made the demand. The bill would also let the FBI compel businesses to cooperate with record requests, and it would expand the government’s secret surveillance powers over noncitizens in the United States.
This is scary. Starting to sound like the old Soviet Union.

A New Day!

Let’s start the day off with a PayPal donation link:

This Morning

Slept through the night (I think). Up at 7am to rouse Tommy and do my stretching exercises. I almost talked myself out of the stretching but man does my back ever feel better for having done them!

Goals?

a) submit resume to jobs advertised in yesterday’s paper (this should have been done yesterday)

b) decide whether or not to accept a 2nd interview for a job I am far overqualified for that pays $9.50 per hour more than I am getting now DONE

c) do something with my parking ticket (either pay it $25 or appeal it-$0 or $92) DONE

d) find a contract immediately

e) sales calls

f) follow-up letters to previous sales calls

h) evaluation and bid on network project and web application project

i) trade in cell phone for one that works

j) fax invoice for services rendered DONE

l) eat lunch DONE

I’m going to compliment myself on this one because the steaks came out just right!

Helped Noah collect ants for his ant farm. Strange. These little things I once or twice a year battle to get them out of the house I am now bringing into the house on purpose. Couldn’t help but stare and watch them work.

Amy was jazzed to be home. She obviously had a blast this weekend and was quite wired. She ran around giving everyone big hugs and had a perpetual smile on her face. I think she loves her trips with her grandparents but is always excited to return home.

Done out. Time to lay in bed with the wife.
