The snow has arrived.
It’s also 5pm and I’m starting to get a little strung at the apparent lack of productivity today.

Cleaned 7 yr old’s very icky trash can. Cleaned kitchen counter tops. The 13 yr old cleaned the stove quite well!
Time to shift gears briefly.
My computer crashed yesterday when I was trying to brag on the 20 mth old. Yesterday as I was preparing breakfast, I pulled out our George Foreman Grill to fry up some sausage (btw, this is a great addition to the kitchen!) and the baby, unprompted, seeing me pull the grill out says “hot hot” and blows twice. It’s adorable and makes me feel better that she recognizes things, like the wood stove, as hot and dangerous.
I told her she was smart and she said “smart” while doing the Baby Sign for “smart.” My wife signs great and I do ok but we still went to http://www.babysigns.com and bought the whole system. It really works!
Wahoo! Authentication procedure nailed down. From now on, any php site that needs a secured backend will go much quicker since the wrinkles have been ironed out and I now have a plug and play security system.
Taking a break from the computer. Think I’ll see if I can raise the temperature downstairs.
Bathroom scrubbed.
Other wants/todos: move wife’s computer upstairs, setup streaming webcam on birdfeeders
I drove through a very interesting part of town yesterday that to me really defined “East TN” and deserves a photographic essay. I will allot a day to take and post some pictures soon.
Ok. The next hour is programming. No no. I don’t work that way. The next task is programming. The goal is to be able to log in completely to the menu system and log out.
Baby and I shared waffles. 13 yr old in great spirits and helping in kitchen. Brewed decaf tea, made coolaid, and brewed coffee. Refueled fire (still had coals!). Read the Sunday paper. Got phone calls from inlaws stating that the 7 yr old and 10 yr old are both sick. Should make for a fun week.
Attitude: Inspired to make sales
Add to want to do list: HomeDepot run to insulate this backdoor (although it’s going to be nearly 60 degrees at the end of the week. We should suffer through a few more days of cold and deal with it later).
A New Day!

This Morning
The wife let me sleep in! What a pleasure! I slept the deepest I’ve slept in a long time.
I am now torn between doing the things I want to do and the things I have to do.
Wants and have tos: programming for self (making blog nicer, developing my hobby sites), clean house (regular cleaning), chop wood (size it rather, time to rent a splitter), clean office bedroom and garage (major projects), study for HAM radio operator’s license, shop online, play with the kids, programming for client, marketing materials to get more clients, resume submissions
– Ugh! I just remembered I forgot to go by the mall last night. A final piece of the wife’s Valentine’s Day present was to be on sale and it was the last day for it.
I think I’ll set today’s goals as regular weekly cleaning, client programming, some progress on garage and/or office
Strange dream last night. I was responsible for a large party that gathered in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery, Kmart, and Walgreens. It was spurred by a larger event that my free spirited hippie friends didn’t want to participate in but wanted to do their own thing. So I found the parking lot venue the previous year. This year it had a much larger turnout and someone else took credit for it. I ended up getting a slot on the stage but I couldn’t remember how to play the guitar or any of the lyrics to the songs on my songlist. I offered to return with my juggling gear and put on a show.
Last Night
Watched much of Head with the wife. Too tired to watch all. I feel like my dad!
Actively choose to not be on the computer this afternoon (of course, the hardware lock trashing all my work had a bit of influence o on that). I turned the evil demon and its associated minions off! My head had no hum on CPU fans! Had physical withdrawal symptoms including the shakes.
Spent the rest of the day working on the Honey Do list and chopping at more wood for the fire. I promised myself that if I would take a day and size the wood appropriately, I’d rent a wood splitter. However, I haven’t taken the time to sharpen the chains for the chain saw as chopping wood is quite pleasurable. I forgot that I had promised myself I’d work on the starter motor for the Jeep but that would have entailed actually leaving the house. Going to chill in front of the television or, be still my heart, a book!
The computer is just irritating me today. Spent the morning with the cub scouts collecting food for the 2nd Harvest Food Bank. Feels good to help people.
The birds are very happy. I put thistle out and the finches cannot get enough of it.
The baby is very happy. She is eatting breakfast and playing with her toys.
The 7 yr old is very happy. He is pretty much always happy.
The 10 yr and wife are asleep so I assume they are happy. The 13 yr old is at the grandfather’s and the center of attention so he is happy. And I am burning the eggs…but I am happy!
