Just got back from dropping the 13 yr old at school (left at 8:15). Spent some time before that writing a letter to the baby. I’m doing better with handling the 13 yr old. We had some good conversation this morning. I need to improve still.
Just clicked one of the “fresh blog” links in Blogger and found this post (warning: has music..a cool song at least the first measure before I hit the esc key) In the post, she writes “*Worn a Skirt: NO!!! im nt gay!!” When did wearing a skirt make you gay? Is this how my 10 year old girl feels about the things we make her do? I think I need to read more teenie bopper blogs to see if I can bridge the generation gap.
CORRECTION: Upon re-read, this is a guy writing. It’s hard to tell through all the ridiculous slang, misspellings, etc. Do kids really think that’s kewl?
I feel negligent. I picked up my book that I am writing for the baby. It’s written on handmade paper from India. I bought it the day she was born and intended to write a letter a day to her describing her growth and milestones. The last entry is from September 8, 2003. So much has happened since then! It’s impossible to recount.
To add insult to injury, when I started doing this for the baby, I realized I should also be doing it for the 13 yr old, the 10 yr old (most importantly), and the 7 yr old. These 3 children came into my life roughly 4 years ago and joined my household 2.5 years ago. The 7 yr old has spent more time with me than his biological father and truly knows me as “Dad.” I would love to have documented for each of the children our developing relationships. Finding time to write for 1 is difficult enough, but I will commit to doing this for all 4.

A New Day!
Let’s start the day off with a PayPal donation link:
This Morning
* Awoke at 12:30 and refueled fire. Almost convinced myself to put an all nighter.
* Awoke again, no alarm, at 5:45 and lounged in bed until 6:05 then got the kids up
* Time to brew coffee
Last Night
Didn’t last long. Read a few pages in Mutant Message Down Under by Marlo Morgan and drifted off between 10 and 10:30.
Time to check on the kids and bring more wood down for the fire. I’ve made lots of smaller logs so I should have a hot burn tonight but much refueling. I want to watch tv with the wife
Had hamburgers then watched Blue Clues to see Blue talk! Still undecided on the format. It definitely opens up marketing potential as far as greater variety of things to sell, support for the live show etc. It also gives them the option of dropping the live action character at anytime and the voice is generic enough that any character actor can handle it.
Time to put kiddies to bed.
Time to cook. Hamburgers tonight.
Whew! Have enough wood for a hot fire this evening and maybe even next. Made a great mix of well seasoned and relatively fresh wood.
I keep bouncing from cleaning task to cleaning task accomplishing very little of anything. It’s so overwhelming but I know once I start into it things will go well and quickly.
I personally have always advocated this. I know a 15 power nap for me sometimes saves an entire afternoon!
I talked to the neighbor. His neighbor is putting up an 8 foot tall privacy fence right on the property line. I was trying to explain his rights and that he could exercise them for a phone call and he just didn’t seem inclined to want to fight the issue.
I hate privacy fences. It screws with the animals (I personally like possum and snakes and raccoons etc), devalues the neighborhood and generally adds nothing to neighborhood.
Chopped some wood and tried to save the fire. Heading to the garage for a bit.
Shifting focus to the outdoors. Going to work on 1) wood splitting 2) driveway and 3) garage
