Political Post of the Day

Disclaimer: I personally have not done this yet. I always read the fine print and maybe make some phone calls first. I recommend you do the same.

The following is from http://www.moveon.org/

Dr Friend,

In an attempt to escape responsibility for the misleading statements that led the nation to war, President Bush has announced plans to form an independent inquiry to look into what went wrong. An inquiry would serve the Bush administration well: it would envelop the issue in a fog of uncertainty, deflect blame onto the intelligence services, and push any political damage into 2005, after the upcoming election.

But the facts need no clarification. Despite repeated warnings from the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency, President Bush and his administration hyped and distorted the threat that Iraq posed. And now that reality is setting in, the President seeks to pin the blame on someone else. We can’t let him.

Congress has the power to censure the President — to formally reprimand him for his betrayal of the nation’s trust. If ever there was a time to use this function, it is now. Join the call for Congress to censure President Bush now at:

Thanks.

What is MoveOn all about?

MoveOn is working to bring ordinary people back into politics. With a system that today revolves around big money and big media, most citizens are left out. When it becomes clear that our “representatives” don’t represent the public, the foundations of democracy are in peril. MoveOn is a catalyst for a new kind of grassroots involvement, supporting busy but concerned citizens in finding their political voice. Our nationwide network of more than 1,700,000 online activists is one of the most effective and responsive outlets for democratic participation available today.

New Attitudes

Just clicked one of the “fresh blog” links in Blogger and found this post (warning: has music..a cool song at least the first measure before I hit the esc key) In the post, she writes “*Worn a Skirt: NO!!! im nt gay!!” When did wearing a skirt make you gay? Is this how my 10 year old girl feels about the things we make her do? I think I need to read more teenie bopper blogs to see if I can bridge the generation gap.

CORRECTION: Upon re-read, this is a guy writing. It’s hard to tell through all the ridiculous slang, misspellings, etc. Do kids really think that’s kewl?

So little to do… So much time…

I feel negligent. I picked up my book that I am writing for the baby. It’s written on handmade paper from India. I bought it the day she was born and intended to write a letter a day to her describing her growth and milestones. The last entry is from September 8, 2003. So much has happened since then! It’s impossible to recount.

To add insult to injury, when I started doing this for the baby, I realized I should also be doing it for the 13 yr old, the 10 yr old (most importantly), and the 7 yr old. These 3 children came into my life roughly 4 years ago and joined my household 2.5 years ago. The 7 yr old has spent more time with me than his biological father and truly knows me as “Dad.” I would love to have documented for each of the children our developing relationships. Finding time to write for 1 is difficult enough, but I will commit to doing this for all 4.
