* Went to overly long meeting where I broke my own rules of efficient meeting running and chatted too much. Good lunch. Good company. Baby was wacky tired.

* Going to chop a little wood, brew some joe, then get to programming

What I’ve done to that poor tree is sinful! The neighbor had a beautiful oak tree felled by a tornado. The power company brought it to the ground in huge chunks and I traded for it. Gave some electrical work in exchange for the tree. However, I asked that the power company cut it into manageable sized pieces so I could cord it and burn it in the wood stove. As I’m cutting this Oak up (some pieces nearly 4.5 feet in diameter) I’m realizing that it should have been boarded and planked. This would cuts so cleanly I could be making shingles with it! The grain is so fine it would make an elegant paneling some expensive board room. I, or the home owner, could have made a fortune keeping it in one chunk and having a crane take it to some lumber company.

Call it “live and learn.” Oh the other hand, I am getting tremendous pleasure out of cutting it and warming my house. The fire burns long and hot and produces a wonderful scent.

* stuck. Have to leave the house shortly to go to a meeting so I don’t want to get into anything but I feel like I need to be doing something. Think I’ll chop wood.

* Wife slept on the couch and today is giving me the cold shoulder. I’m such a screwup.

* Going to lie down for a bit.

* Got the 20 mth old in a clean diaper and loaded her in the car so that together we could take the 13 yr old to school

* Wanted to fall asleep in the car

* Returned home and chopped some wood then refueled the fire.

* Time to program

* Time to get the 13 yr old to school

* Got the kids up, had breakfast and tested the 7 yr old on his spelling. He was so tired that he was making errors like “time lineline” and “Sams’s” If he concentrates, he should test out of spelling this week with the pre-test. 7 and 10 yr old were jolly. I gave the 13 yr old his medicine half an hour late. The 10 yr old turned me down for the “he and me” dance this coming Saturday. I asked that she see how many people in her class are going and told her “we don’t have to dance. We can go and just have fun.” She’s afraid I’ll embarass her and she is too self-conscious to dance. Dancing could be so healthy for her.

* Drove the kids to school. Our carpooler was slow today we almost didn’t make it on time.

* Some work accomplished. Time to get the kids up for school.

* One hour before the kids rise. My neck aches in the area where you’d take a pulse. I’ve got another load of laundry in, added wood to the fire, took some trash to the street and am settling in to program. On good news, the mud stains appear to have mostly come out. I think one more treatment would have removed them completely but I’ll try that after the next wear.

* Bathed, flossed teeth even! Skipped my stretching exercises but am feeling pretty good. Time to brew some coffee and make with the tapping on the keyboard to get the php thing wiped out.

This Morning

* Time to start the day. There’s no point to being in bed anyway. Started 30 minutes ago with a few minutes of Scarface. Then restarted the fire. Then decided to quit procrastinating on a pair of pants that got mudstained a year or more ago. Not even sure they fit. I scrubbed and bleached and did my best. Now I’m moving laundry to the dryer and will start a load to see if I got the stains out.

* Let’s make this a productive day despite all the adversity.

* Tired. Want to sleep. Need to work. Tomorrow is going to be a horrible day. Cat is freaky weird tonight.
