A New Day!

Let’s start the day off with a PayPal donation link:

This Morning

Woke at 5 then again at 6. Got the kids up by 6:15 and began putting more paint on the racer. I wanted to add another coat of yellow but didn’t have time. Quized Noah on spelling as I worked. Bus driver called to say the bus broke down in the yard so after carpool I drove Tommy to school. Then returned to work all morning on pinewood derby painting. Now I’m preping axles and realize I need to run an errand to complete this project. Weight in at 5:15pm. Yikes!

SpongeBob Racer continues to evolve. Turns out I have epoxy that dries in 15 minutes so I’m not so concerned about the wheels now. I guess I’m still living in 1977 thinking that things take so much longer to dry.

Tommy is getting on my nerves real bad tonight.

On a totally unrelated note, I’m feeling less than adquate as a dad with this dog gone pinewood derby fiasco.

So many viruses! March 3, 2004 3:11 pm

War of the worms is a wonderful explanation for why so many of us have so many emails generated by worms such as Bagle.I, Bagle.J, Bagle.F, Bagle.G, Bagle.H, Netsky.C, Netsky.C and MyDoom.F, MyDoom.G.

“We suspect that several virus authors – or factions of virus authors – are competing in creating the most successfully spreading worm. So far we see three different groups or persons…”

To help protect yourself from viruses, worms and hoaxes visit http://www.sarc.com/ to confirm all warnings before ever forwarding a message onto other people; frequently the threat of a virus or a virus hoax generates more email than the actual virus.

Here is a nice list of antivirus solutions. I cannot vouch for how current or accurate the information is.

I personally use Norton Antivirus (be aware they have many different versions: pro, corp, etc) and backit up with TrendMicro’s online scanner. I also recommend McAfee, Doctor Solomon(appears to be McAfee now) and I have heard great things about f-prot.

Last minute coding done and uploaded. I wish I could have dropped a graphical interface on it and technically there needs to be one more tidbit added but for all practical purposes, it’s done.

This Morning

Slept like a log! Woke Sarah 20 minutes earlier than usual. Figured I’d better lay on the couch or she would. She still took forever to get dressed and had I not intervened she would have toyed with her hair until it was too late to finish her home or eat breakfast. Brought the wife to the couch to play guard for the naughty boy while I took the others to school. I wasn’t even out of the neighborhood when the bus pulled in.

My sister is the Hottie of the Month. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Met the kids at the doctors office and Granddaddy … March 3, 2004 12:02 am

Met the kids at the doctors office and Granddaddy stood just behind Dad and Dad stepped just to the right and Amy looked them both over, grinned, outstretched arms, ran straight to….Granddaddy! Her cuteness factor was turned up high tonight. Tommy was over stimulated from group therapy. Noah was taking the world in stride spaced out in his book. And Sarah was lollygagging about her homework. Mom looked like she needed a valium.

Parting company with the father-in-law, we left therapy for Sonic where the quarterly cleaning of rubbish from the car ensued, Tommy talked a mile a minute, Sarah groused over not getting to eat “anywhere but here” and other fun chaos.

After eatting, we proceeded to Barnes & Noble for Dr. Suess’ birthday! The older 3 instantly disappeared into the crowd; I later tracked down Tommy to limit his cookie and drink intake and suggest that 3 door prize tickets was 2 more than he should have and no more should be gotten. Amy examined the crowd with hesitation but for a moment then launched herself into the unknown for a certain good time. Coincidentally and by accident, she was dressed in perfect Suess attire, a red and white horizontally striped dress. She roamed freely with an adult shadow and finally settled in at the Brio table and was joined by 5 or 6 girls of similar height, all blonde, looking somewhat like a staged photo for a postcard; I wish I’d had my camera! It was a grande evening!

Returned home to accomplish much delayed programming. Now growing too tired to finish. So close that I know I can finish in the morning.

wife says:

i accidently did something and now the row at the bottom of my screen is invisible and the top looks funny

wife says:

how do i fix it?

wife says:

never mind

wife says:

i fixed it

husband says:

ok. I want you to read that outloud to yourself as if you were doing something else and some said it to you.

wife says:

?

wife says:

do i sound crazy?

husband says:

user: I accidently did something

tech support: That’s sufficiently vague

user: and now the row at the bottom of my screen

tech support: ok. They could mean windows.. or they could mean Internet Explorer.. or this could be in programming on their blog or web site.. or maybe a piece of their monitor is missing

user: is invisible

tech support: wow! Now that’s cool.

user: and the top looks funny

tech support: halter top? top of the monitor? user’s on pain killers?

tech support final solution after carefully evaluating the problem: The user accidentally dragged the windows task bar to the top of the screen and shrunk it too small to use.

Fix: resize bar. Drag back to bottom of screen.

wife says:

you should cut and paste this into your blog with a gripe about wifes calling you for tech support all the time

husband says:

🙂

wife says:

oh, and f%&^ you 😛

husband says:

Did I get the solution right?

husband says:

🙂

wife says:

again – f%&^ you

husband says:

hehe
