Doug: "Did you read my post?"
Cathy: "Um. Well. It was kinda long. I scanned it."

Funny things kids (and sometimes adults) say. Somethings these make you say “Hmmm.”
From the mouths of babes
Evan, 3.5 years old, points at the Russett potatoes on the food shelf: "I want the gun."
He relates potatoes to a potato gun!
Amy: "Can I go to A’s house?"
Dad: "Sure. Wear a jacket."
Evan: "I want go to A’s house."
Dad: "No, you are sick."
Evan, crying: "I not sick! I want go to A’s house with jacket."
Dad, feeling like a cad.
From the mouths of babes
Evan picks up an off-white hardcover book: "This you bible!"
Dad, chuckling: "That sure is!"
The book? Structured Programming: Theory and Practice (The Systems programming series) by R.C. Linger, H.D. Mills, B.I. Witt, ISBN 0-201-14461-1
From the mouths of babes
Evan climbs into the wardrobe.
Mom: "Come out of the closet. If you’re going to be gay, be gay but don’t be in the closet."
Evan: "Okay. I will."
From the mouths of babes
We just shuffled bedrooms. Tommy moved downstairs. Noah moved to Tommy’s room. Evan moved to Noah’s room.
Evan, bringing a picture to Dad: "I found this in Noah’s room." pause "I found this in my room."
From the mouths of babes
On Friday, Cathy had to go get Tommy from school for the weekend. That’s our deal with him. While he is on academic probation, he comes home every weekend for forced study time. Of course, that places me upstairs doing double duty of programming and watching the children. I am under the gun to get some work finished, wrapped, closed out and it is not moving fast enough so I lost my temper with the children about three times on Friday, once when the new drywall fell to the floor. Hmmm. Now that I think about it, this may have been earlier in the week when Cathy had a meeting. Cathy’s post on Amy Says reminded me of these words:
Amy to Dad: "We don’t want you to stay home and watch us anymore. From now on, you have to do all Mom’s errands so she can stay here!"
They will repeat what you say
Amy was tasked with helping to distribute the folded laundry and took to her chore with glee and enthusiasm.
Evan: "Amy come play!"
Amy: "I can’t play Evan. I have to work."
It is always a little shocking when you hear your exact words come out of a little mouth. At a Boy Scout event once, I commented to one of the other leaders, "I don’t think they hear a word I say." and he repeated one of my mantras then commented that he heard Noah say it earlier. They do hear! But sometimes the words we hear back are the ones we wish we had never said. Just this morning Evan spoke to Noah. I thought I misheard, but when I entered the room, Evan repeated the exact sentence to me that I uttered roughly three days ago.
Evan to Noah: "When that [2 sheets of drywall] fell down [and cracked] Dad said ‘God damn’ and got mad."
Evan to Dad: "When that fell down you said ‘God damn’ and got mad."
I had to concede that I became angry when I shouldn’t and cursed. I explained that we shouldn’t use those words. I will await the phone call from his Sunday school teacher and the preacher.

Evan, hold index finger straight out: "I found boo ger."
Dad: "Hold onto it and I’ll bring you a tissue."
Evan: "Boo ger all gone."

Noah and I went to the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra last night. It was COLD outside. Unfortunately, all of Noah’s dress clothes are at his grandparents so I attired him in some black denim pants and a short sleeve solid yellow polo shirt. Yes, he had a jacket.
Noah, 12.5 years old: "I feel like I’m the only person in here with a short sleeve shirt."
Dad: "You are."
From the mouths of babes
Evan, 3.5 years old to Amy: "You be Mom and I be Dad."
Evan, husky voice: "Oooh honeey!"
From the mouths of babes
Evan: "More food!"
Dad, delivering more fish sticks and carrots: "There you go."
Evan, gleefully: "Order up! Phsiisss Order up!"
From the mouths of babes
Evan, 3.5 crosses arms, furrows brow: "I don’t care!"
A phase I don’t enjoy.
From the mouths of babes
Mom heads out to pickup Noah.
Evan, 3.5 years old: "Bye Mommy! Bye!"
Evan: "Mom’s gones without her drink in the car." *pause* "I guess I’ll sip it."

Oceanic Six Twitter Project
Postby Gideon on Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:28 pm
All right guys, I know I’m new around here, but I had a pretty cool idea that I think some of you may want to participate in. Essentially, Twitter accounts will be created for the Oceanic Six (minus Aaron, obviously), and we’ll use them to follow the events off-island in this season as if we were those characters. Need for information? Keep reading! What’s Twitter?
Twitter is a social network/micro-blogging service that is absolutely free to sign up for. You can see the example I’ve set up here. The amount of characters you can input for one "post" is limited to 160. This means sometimes you have to be smart to say all you want to say.Who can participate?
Anyone can participate! Just post here with the character you’d like to post as, and I’ll help you set up an account if you need any help. I would like for you to make a commitment to this, however, and continue with your character at least until he or she makes it back to the island. So what/when do I post?
Just post whatever happens to the character on the show! Act as if you are the character, not yourself commenting on the character. Think of it as role-playing. You can post whenever you like, whether on Wednesdays after the show or any time throughout the week, but please do not post more than once a day, simply because people will be "following" you and we don’t want to flood and annoy them. Also, please post at least once a week.
Sayid is being played by Dreyesbo. Kate is being played by Jess. Sun is being played by Mellow. Hurley is being played by PenguinJosh. I’m not sure who claimed Jack but I am guessing Gideon. Charles Widmore is being played by DarkUFO. Vincent the dog is being played by bigsimpsin. Desmond is being played by RobinTWP. Frank_Lapidus is played by Anis Ben Amor. mhawking is being played by ???. Benjamin Linus is being played by ???. Claire Littleton is being played by ???. James Ford is being played by ???. John Locke is being played by ???. Miles Straume is being played by ???. The second Kate Austen is being played by ???. The Island is being played by ???. Jack Shephard (the second) is being played by ???. Juliet Burke is being played by ???. Sayid_Jarrah the second is being played by ???. Walt Lloyd is being played by ???.
