Great day for woodworking
Really wish I had time to work on the yard and a garden
Occurs to me that it is planting season. I really want to be building a raised bed in the yard and setting up a robot gardener. But I am so not ready. I need time and materials to build a greenhouse, raised beds, etc. Our biggest expense is food. I pay for food by working a job. My biggest time sink is my job. Catch-22. I really am enjoying indoor gardening. Now I want to turn the whole house and yard into growing food.
The kids told me school would be canceled so I slept in. Where’s the snow? The ice?!
Here I sit
All locked up
Mentally deranged
And out of luck
Pondering all
That must be done
Thinking, thinking
Doing none
To banish
The stress
Must
Think less
Trying
To decide
Which thing
To do
Is still
Thinking
Much ado
About nothing
I turn
Off my mind
To think less
And do more
For doing
Is how
Things get done
And
Put my troubles
On the run
By thinking none
And doing all.
For most of 2017, I planned diner as I rushed home from work. It was inefficient and a costly way to prepare food often resulting in buying precooked food from grocery stores or restaurants.
I have graduated to preparing meals a week in advance. I hope to eventually prepare a month in advance. Currently I only prepare dinners. My next step will be to add lunches for the week. As I work toward monthly preparation, I will start using coupons and more strategic shopping.
I have now grown my own lettuce indoors and learned much doing so. I want to add to tomatoes but think rosemary and other herbs will Be next. By 2019, I hope to be growing most of our vegetables in the house or in a greenhouse. I am optimistic.
First meal complete.
Second meal complete. Hamburgers:
Two more meals ready. Taco meat for tacos and rosemary chicken:
Tonight’s meal. Rosemary chicken, portobello mushrooms, and roast squash and zucchini:
Lastly, chicken prepared for chicken noodle soup:
This continues to provide me endless amusement plus nourishment.
This one not so much.
I have learned “overwatering looks exactly like underwatering.”
What shall I do?
Best get on it!
For this day of my vacation, I shall be glued to the computer…working.
I am tired. I am cold. And I don’t want to sit at this computer anymore. Working through my vacations bytes. One day, I want a real vacation…one where I can step away from work.
2018 begins with me in the freezing basement wrapped in 3 layers and a blanket draped over my head programming for clients. Even though I am on vacation, my regular job duties also call. I may have to go into the office for those. I have committed myself to completing some home projects too which I piddle at when I need to move from the computer for a few. I suspect most of 2018 will be like this.
This has been such an eventful year. Perhaps I will do a closeout post but for now, on this Sunday, this last day of 2017, I find myself with client work to complete as well as work for my employer. Hopefully, I can slip in some housework too.
