  • I love my kids. The toddler blows bubbles!

Evan at 14 months knows to pickup a bubble wand, pucker his lips, and blow!

Amy astounds me with her sentences and vocabulary.

Noah is taking an interest in juggling and technology! Way to kiss up to dad, son!

Sarah confidentally jaunts off to Palm Beach and handles herself appropriately. I am so proud of her accomplishments.

Tommy has matured into a "normal" teenager. I hesitate to label him Asperger anymore.

  • From the mouths of babes

Amy, deep asleep, loud and with enthusiasm: "Thank you elephant!"

  • Growing Up

The little boy next door just came over, knocked, and politely asked, "Could Amy come over and swim in my pool?" to which Amy grabbed her swim suit and went on her merry four year old way. This is the same boy that seems like only yesterday was standing naked in my driveway and would periodically just let himself in the house to play with toys.

    Amy is growing so fast!

  • The most horrible sound

I hate hearding the 4 year old start repeated over and over "I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry." while hearing the 1 year old gasp for air and cry.

  • Tears hurt

Amy wants to play outside right now. We spent a few minutes then came back inside. I want to play outside all day with her but I have to work. So much is at stake right now. Dollar amounts in the thousands. But none of that costs me as much as watching her slow, silent tears drip down her cheeks.

  • From the mouths of babes

Amy: "You know Dad. Lucy died."

    We talk.

    Amy: "It makes me sad."

    What a big girl!

  • From the mouths of babes

Amy says: "I wish I could dance with the clouds up in the sky."

    That’s my free spirit!

  • From the mouths of babes

Amy: "Daddy, you make me all better."

    Thanks!

  • Amy Toots Her Horn

I think I put this video up before but now that I’m using youtube I felt the urge to share it again. Back in January, Amy discovered how to blow a horn with her nose.

  • From the mouths of babes

Amy, sugary sweet: "Mommy, it’s not your fault."
    Mom: "Thank you Amy."
Amy: "Mommy, it’s not Evan’s fault."
    pause
Amy, matter of factly: "It’s Daddy fault."

  • Touch the puppet head

So Amy, Evan and Cathy are heading to the zoo to visit with Aunt Carmen, Gabriel and Abby. This will be Evan’s first trip and Amy is bouncing off the walls. I am dying to go! This afternoon/evening we have Sarah needing to be picked up from afterschool activities, Noah needing to be dropped off then picked up from Karate, and Cathy has a meeting at the same time as the Juggling Club. If I attend the Juggling Club I can enlist another juggler to help me at this year’s CMHW Zoo event (Saturday, April 29 from 10am-2pm – I perform from 12-1).

These choices give me ulcers. Had I woken when I wanted I could have accomplished enough work to feel justified in taking some time at the zoo today but I didn’t. I don’t want to make Cathy skip her meeting but the juggling is good therapy and I’ve wanted a 2nd juggler to attend the CHMW event for years. I’m going to skip the zoo, work hard today, and juggle tonight.

  • From the mouths of babes

Dad: "Amy. Can you say your alphabet?"
    Amy: Sings the abcs
Dad: "Amy. Can you count to 20?"
Amy: Counts to 20 skipping 16.
Dad: "How’d you get so smart?"
    Amy, without hesitation: "Granddaddy"

  • From the mouths of babes

Amy: "I’m going to eat this to grow big and strong to take care of Evan because he’s little and silly and ticklely. He tickles me. He makes me laugh."

  • Splish Splash Now She Needs a Bath

I stole an hour this afternoon and Amy, Evan, Cathy and I took Molly out to the dog park. Molly was very excited and relatively well behaved. Some other dogs were running free and I let Molly off leash. This was the first time she realized she could go in the pond. The other dogs did and she tried to figure out how to simply get a drink but then put a paw in, then two paws, then all the way (it’s shallow at the top of the waterfall), then plop! she laid down. The entire time she is biting at the water as if she hoped to pick it up. She walked in circles chomping the whole time and then started jumping and splashing and jumping and splashing. It was riotous!

While there I was pleased to be complimented by a dog judge and therapy dog trainer for my handling of Molly. She even asked if Molly did shows!

Amy: Daad? Can I borrorrow your mail?
    Dad: Sure. Borrow my mail.
    Amy: Mom! Dad said yes!
